RSS feeds is a web format used to publish frequently updated content (such as news headlines, blog entries, audio, video, real-time stock market quotes, de volkskrant etc...) in a standardized XML format. A RSS document includes text (full or summerized) and metadata such as publishing time, authorship, links to web pages. RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content so you can get the latest headlines and video in one place, as soon as its published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and virtually includes every possible "self-refreshing" web content. When seeing this: rss logo on a website, clicking on it let you subscribe to its RSS feed, which simply means copying the feed URL and pasting it into your reader. The basic idea is that you don't have to "refresh" anything, it's done automatically. So, once you have bookmarked your favorite feeds, you only have to launch News to know what's really going on - now. (See the RSS section of the Links page for still more in-depth explanations.)
